Testimonials

Dear Mr. Ross,

I am a patient of the pain clinic at Kernan. The receptionists in the clinic have gone that extra mile to assist me with my insurance company. The pain is bad enough, and the frustration of dealing with the rules of insurance companies just makes matters worse. They were flexible in scheduling my appointments for treatment, and the care shown by all was exceptional. Kernan is fortunate to have a clinic that makes you feel good even when you are in pain.

The care provided by Dr. Kent was outstanding. His gentle touch and bedside manner were comforting. I needed an appointment with a neurosurgeon. Dr. Kent contacted the surgeon and expedited the referral process for me.

Today everybody just seems to be too busy to be concerned about others. Dr. Kent and his staff are exceptions to the present status quo. They are true patient advocates.

Dear CMR Staff,

Keep it the way it is! In no other hospital can the immaculate treatment I was provided and the understanding of your staff be found. God Bless the staff at Kernan whom made me trust others with my life, and may others experience the great treatment I received from Kernan Hospital. My experience at Kernan made me stronger in faith.

God Bless and keep you all.

- A.S.

Gentlemen-

I strongly commend two of your employees who have helped make my stay at Kernan Orthopaedics and Rehabilitation a much happier experience than anticipated.

Verna, one of the technicians at Kernan, has a fine personality, a special touch when inserting an IV and while drawing blood, and is a loyal and exceptional member of your organization. Nathaniel is another exemplary member of your organization. Nothing is too much trouble for him and he has a wonderful way of helping patients. Both individuals have been very kind to me, and I appreciate it.

Sincerely,
D. G.

To the nurses, aides, assistants, doctors, therapists and staff of Kernan Hospital:

I want to thank everyone for their kindness, caring, and outstanding professionalism while I was there. I am continuing to make progress thanks to your encouragement and excellent care—you were all wonderful!

Sincerely,
Frank & Sue

To the PT/OT staff:

I’d like to thank you all for the work that you do and the work that you’ve done with me.

You guys are the best! I’m grateful to have had you all as my therapists and, in general, thankful that such a wonderful facility and excellent staff was available to me in my hour of need!!! I wish the best to all of you.

Respectfully,
Billy B.

Dear Mr. Ross,

On Dec. 15th, I received a total left knee replacement at Kernan. Needless to say, surgery is never fun and the follow up therapy always deems challenging. I want to commend you on the caring, empathetic staff at Kernan.

From the initial contact at the Joint seminar until my discharge on Dec. 19th, I was the recipient of excellent care and service by all your staff. From the housekeeper who apologized because I woke up as he emptied the trash, to the nurses who taught me a few tricks on how to sleep on my side and to the therapists who taught me to walk, I thank you.

Please give the staff in the surgical wing a pat on the back for me. Once again, thank you for the caring service. I would highly recommend Kernan for any orthopedic procedure.

Sincerely,
Dennis G.

Dear Dr. Kent,

I am writing this letter to compliment the staff at the pain management division at Kernan Hospital.

To say your staff is magnificent is a huge understatement. The atmosphere in the procedure room is always very upbeat. The personal care they give to each patient is wonderful. By the time the procedure started, I felt relaxed and cared about. During the procedure, I felt the same. The doctors told me what to expect and when to expect certain things during and after the procedure. They took the time and made the effort to keep me relaxed throughout the whole process.

I have had procedures done at other hospitals, and it is hard for me to describe the difference at Kernan. The amount of energy each person on the staff puts into each patient is phenomenal. I have had procedures done there early in the morning and late in the afternoon, and it’s safe to say that the effort your staff applies to each patient does not diminish as the day goes on.

All of you should be proud of the excellent care you provide. Thank you, thank you, and thank you. I could go on and on.

With immense respect and sincerity,
Mary N.

Dear Ms. Summerlin,

I was hospitalized at Kernan for a 2-level spinal fusion done by Dr. Spiro Antonaides. My surgery was very successful, and while I give thanks to God and Dr. Antonaides for that, I also wish to tell you about the wonderful care I received by one of your staff, Tammy B. Naturally, I was in pain, unable to move very well and under influence of anesthesia and narcotics, however, one person stood out in the “fog” - Tammy! She is professionally competent and provided me with gentle, confident care. This allowed me to relax right away, for I knew I was in good hands!

You might think this letter is just another nice letter from a grateful patient, but it’s more than that; I am an RN with 37 years experience including critical care, orthopaedics, teaching, and I am now in occupational health. I recognize professional excellence when I see it and Tammy is an outstanding nurse! She generated my confidence in her skills, giving me comfort throughout the entire post-op night. Even though I was only there one night before transfer, I will never forget her smile and wonderful care, and I will forever be grateful for her help in getting me through the most helpless night of my life!

From a grateful patient,
Barbara D.

Dear Ms. Miller,

It is uplifting to know that there are special individuals who care about others that are less fortunate. You and the staff of Kernan Hospital have continued to respond in a positive way. Your generosity allowed us to use all of the resources we received to help many beyond our expectation. We were able to give many food baskets to families in dire need.

We thank you for your kindness and support in our struggle to bring glad tidings to others.

We look forward to a continued positive relationship as partners.

Sincerely,
Rev. Dr. Maceo M. Williams

Dear Mr. Ross,

Recently I was an outpatient of Dr. Brian Polsky’s and underwent a repair to a torn knee ligament. The entire experience at Kernan was very positive, starting with the extremely friendly admitting personnel. The nurses in the OR and Recovery areas were very kind and also very professional, which made me feel at ease. Although I didn’t talk with anyone from Anesthesia until the day of surgery, the explanations given to me regarding their plans for pain management were thorough and accurate, and I had very little pain afterwards.

As well as being a registered nurse, I am also a corporate president of my commercial construction company and I have a deep appreciation for good service and understand what it takes to render it. I had a recent hospitalization at another hospital in which the experience was anything but caring, especially in comparison to Kernan. My husband was a recovering stroke patient in 1995 at Kernan and he too received caring, professional attention.

I would appreciate it if you would pass my comments onto the personnel in the OR so that they will be encouraged to keep on doing the good things that they do and know that their kindness is noticed.

Sincerely,
Victoria C.

Dear Mr. Ross,

Before making arrangements to have surgery on my knee at Kernan, I had never heard of your facility. However, after my experience over the past several days, I would not hesitate to recommend Kernan to anyone needing joint replacement. I would like to compliment everyone on your staff for the professionalism, care and concern shown to me during my stay.

Singling out anyone would be hard to do. From the clerk who took the initial information on my first visit, to the aide who helped me get into my car upon leaving, everyone showed the same level of caring. Thank you for making the best of a situation that was fraught with concern on my part.

Sincerely,
Steven B.

To Whom It May Concern,

I recently received a questionnaire regarding my stay at your facility. Although I do not feel that most of the questions pertain to my situation since I was not a stroke victim, I do feel it necessary to let your staff know how very pleased I was with your facility as well as with the entire medical, therapy and kitchen staff.

I appreciate the time that everyone took for me and my situation.

Sincerely,
Wayne W.

Dear Mr. Ross,

I am writing this letter in an attempt to let the administration at Kernan know how special Gwen A. is. In a few months, it will be a year since I was released from in-patient care after being in a diabetic coma. I was not the most pleasant patient during my time at Kernan, but in the months after my release until today there has not been a day that I have not thanked God for the encouragement and gentle but firm professional care that I received at Kernan, especially from Gwen A.

She seemed to know just what to say to get me to exercise and have confidence in myself again. With her help I was able to overcome not only the physical problems that I faced, but also the feeling of depression that zapped my spirit and made me not care.
I know the Hospital is filled with good professionals and I had the pleasure of meeting and working with some of them. However, none have made a more special and lasting impression on me more than Mrs. A.

Thank you very much,
Robert S.

Dear Mr. Ross,

Thank you so much for all you did to make my stay as pleasant as possible under the circumstances. I would like to mention several individuals who I thought were particularly impressive as they went about their duties.

Laura J., physical therapist, impressed me as a true professional in every respect. Although I was a bit behind, having missed several important sessions, she pressed me into working harder to achieve a higher level of performance prior to leaving Kernan. On one occasion, when a patient slipped and could have been injured further, she caught the patient before he fell, taking full weight of that person, risking injury to her instead.

Over a period of ten days, a patient comes in contact with quite a few nurses’ aides and gets to make considerable comparisons. I was particularly impressed with Denise H. and Cecilia R., both whom worked very hard and were pleasant, making my stay pleasant. They are both excellent employees and represent the hospital well.

Again, thank you for your most kind hospitality and I wish you continued success.

Sincerely,
John M.

Dear Dr. Murthi,

I wanted to take a moment and thank you for improving my life. Your efforts have greatly improved the movement of my left shoulder. I think I can safely say that I have recovered at least 75% of my ability to use my shoulder. Though I still have a way to go with my therapy here at home, I am sure that I will be very happy with the final results. Thank you so very much.

I wanted to applaud you on your bedside/office manner. It is exceptional. I had extreme anxiety concerning this operation. Thanks to you, I made the right decision: a decision with which I am very pleased. I thank you for ensuring that I was comfortable with the operation at hand, and your courtesy and compassion answering all my questions and concerns.

Also, I would be remiss if I didn’t applaud your staff. I must tell you that I was very impressed by their professionalism and compassion. I cannot remember all of their names, but I would like to thank everyone. Your assistant, Dr. Bonaventure was great! He was so thoughtful and nice when he visited me in the hospital.

Then there were the therapists, who were fabulous. All of them, Stephanie W., who was very compassionate and caring, and Kate D., my primary therapist during rehabilitation was so very nice, very compassionate, caring, and most of all of exceptional professional caliber. I can easily repeat those same accolades for Heather P.

And finally I need to address and thank all of those at the front desk. In all of my visits to your office, they too were superb. They always showed concern, compassion and courtesy. I’ll always remember all the kindness that you and your employees showed me.

You and all of your employees should be extremely proud. They have certainly made this trying ordeal for me so much more pleasant than I could have ever expected.

Please extend my sincere thanks to everyone, and thank you, Dr. Murthi, for being in my corner, performing an excellent surgery and helping me through this very trying ordeal. God bless all of you.

Sincerely,
Carol M.

Dear Ms. DeBouver,

I was a patient at Kernan Hospital and I want to compliment one of your nurses, Fidelia N. I think she is the most caring, uplifting person. I was feeling so depressed one day and Fidelia came into my room, lifted my spirits and made me want to go on. I have been lifted ever since.

I think Fidelia should or continue to work with others who are feeling depressed. I was in the CMR Unit and without her encouragement I don’t think I would have recovered as fast as I did.

Sincerely,
Annette J.

Dear Mr. Ross,

On March 29, I had foot surgery at Kernan. I want you to know how professional and nice everyone was. I have to admit I am the world’s biggest “Needle-phoebe,” and the thought of surgery just terrified me. Starting with the lady who checked me in at the desk continuing to the nurses, anesthesiologist, etc., I felt like I was someone special, and I observed them treating everyone that way. Because I am a firm believer that everyone tells you when you do something wrong, but never when you do things right, I felt it important that you realize what a great staff you have. A special praise goes to Georgeann F. She came in, checked with the patients, nurses, etc., and really kept everything moving along smoothly. She made the mistake of telling me I could squeeze her hand while I got the IV and I’m afraid she may need a skin graft!

I just wanted to commend you on the professionalism of your surgical staff and to give you the perspective from the “patient’s” point of view. I hope I will not have to do this again!

Sincerely,
Ellie K.
