Adaptive Sports Court

Kernan Hospital's adaptive sports court, completed in 2006, is another important component of our rehabilitation program.

It features a full (84-foot X 50-foot) basketball court and tennis court layout with a removable net. The court provides an avenue for teaching patients wheelchair sports and improving fitness and overall health through physical activity. This will also provide an opportunity for Kernan Hospital inpatients to become familiar with and participate in community sports programs.

Kernan will be the host facility for the Baltimore City Wheelchair Basketball Metro League. The league will play Tuesday and Thursday evenings at 6 p.m. beginning May 23 for 6 weeks. Patients/families/staff and visitors are invited to attend.

For more information on Kernan's adaptive sports court, please contact Mike Henley, C.T.R.S., at 410-448-6303.
