Brace Walking Program

We offer brace walking in the Outpatient Ortho Physical Therapy Department for patients with spinal cord injury and other lower extremity weakness, when appropriate to the individual patient’s functional goals. The program includes gait training on level ground, stairs, and curbs, as well as how to fall and get up from the ground with braces. Once a patient is independent with our demonstration braces, we refer them to an orthotist for custom fitted braces.

We have easy access to the building, with curbside drop-off, extra wheelchairs and scooters available for use at the front entrance. Please note that we require a physician’s referral and insurance authorization for Physical Therapy services that includes brace walking. For further information or to arrange an appointment, please call (410) 448-6706.
